Hey doc!
Any recommendation for what to do with little grass seeds with barbs stuck in the back of my gals throat? My vet said wait a week but some are saying to rush her in, put her under, and remove. She’s coughing when she gets up in the morning, but eating, drinking, and moving fine, but obviously irritated. Thanks!

They're a healthy snack for us and our kids—but unfortunately, grapes and raisins can be toxic to our pets.
We always say prevention is the best medicine, but life happens. A grape rolls off the counter. A toddler wants to share. A curious puppy is quicker than you expected, or raids the garbage in a flash.
A simple rule of thumb is:
➡️ One grape for every 10 pounds (4.5 kg) of body weight is enough that I recommend calling your veterinarian or a pet poison hotline.
There are other factors we consider as veterinarians, so this isn't a perfect rule—but it's an easy one to remember.
The good news? Acting quickly can make all the difference.
